It was a sunrise session for the win. The morning was brisk, but it was beautiful. No one was around. The session was perfect. And it was almost as though we had the whole campus to ourselves. Emily showed up with a smile on her face and a cheerful, “Hello!” She was excited (as she should be) because she is graduating with her Master’s degree with the hopes of becoming a special education teacher. And with 100% certainty, I can say that Emily will make an amazing teacher! The world needs more of her. Her positivity and bright personality will carry her through whatever career she chooses. I don’t do many, but I would do a sunrise session with Emily over and over again.
She came with ideas in mind, but she was just happy we didn’t have to wait in lines to take pictures. And so was I. When we got up to Old Main, she energetically said, “Oh! I’m so sorry. I should say Happy Good Friday. I think? I’m not sure if people say that, but Happy Good Friday.” We laughed quite hard. I thought it was a totally perfect thing to say! Emily shared about where she was from, what her plans are post-graduation and that apparently, it’s tradition for the family to put money in the regalia on graduation. I had no idea! The conversation was easy and endless.
She loved Penn State so much that after undergrad, she came back to finish her masters. Now it is officially time to say “goodbye” to Happy Valley. It wasn’t the usual graduation session, but it was perfect. Our time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to go. Emily, thank you so much for reaching out to me! I’m so thankful the timing worked out. You were an absolute joy to spend time with, and I wish you nothing but the world of success on your next adventure in teaching! You’re going to do amazing things
