A Fun Evening

October 28, 2020

Have you ever walked into a room and thought, “Yep. This is going to be fun!” Well that was my feeling as soon as this family pulled in the parking lot. They showed up with smiles. And I felt right at home. This was my second time with Devin, so I felt an instant connection. It was a similar feeling of being in the presence of a great friend. Conversation easy. And a lot of laughs. But what got me the most was just how comfortable I was with them. How invited they made me feel. And I drove away thinking, “Yep. That was a lot of fun.”

The evening was quiet and peaceful.

The kids were all so easy to be around. They just smiled all the time which radiated their inner sweetness. They followed my crazy guidance and were willing to walk all over Curtain Village with me. I feel like once you reach a certain age, getting family pictures is boring and not fun. However, their willingness to be behind the camera was amazing! There is a tight bond there that can’t be broken. I see that. They were gentle with one another. And although siblings by blood, it was evident to me that they were without a doubt friends by choice.

Devin and Nathan are doing an amazing job as parents. But watching them together as a couple made my heart smile. They were real. No fake smiles and no pretending. Their love almost hit me in the face and made me feel like through thick and thin, these two were in it for the long haul. Forever and after. It was humbling to be able to just watch them together because it reminded me just how simple love can be. And how fun marriage truly is. My gut was right. Because everything about that session that I thought would be fun, truly was.

Devin, thank you for reaching out to me again! I absolutely adore your family and it was so nice seeing you again! I hope to see you all again soon.
