Tractors and Birthday Cake

July 21, 2021

Did you know that Barley was good for taking care of algae in ponds and lakes? Me neither. I learned a lot about that and other crops. And I learned quite a bit about John Deere tractors, too. This fun, farming family is one of my favorites. There is never a shortage of conversation, and there is never a shortage of laughter. This family embraces change and is the epitome of “go with the flow.” I am always so excited to see them and hear what’s new on the farm. I am so thankful for this family.

Zane turns one.

And what a year it has been! He is such a happy kiddo, and oh my goodness is he in love with his John Deere tractor. Both real tractor and toy. He could have sat on that for hours! I could have photographed him for hours. I was pleasantly surprised at how much he loved his cake, too! It is always a gamble with one-year-olds. Some like the cake, while others take zero interest in touching it. However, Zane couldn’t get enough of it! And of course, his big sister Kinsley came to his rescue and helped him eat it

It took a lot of work from both Tyler and Megan. Getting the kids to be interested in pictures, I mean. But everything about it was perfect, even if it didn’t seem so on the surface. Kids are so uniquely who they are. Some like pictures, but a lot don’t. And that’s more than okay. Kids walking away, sitting by themselves or just looking indifferent about pictures is common, and that’s who they so wonderfully are. I love those “not so perfect” pictures, because really they are beyond perfect. They are simple and real. And they are so precious.

Megan, as always, it was amazing seeing you and Tyler! Thank you for inviting me out to the farm to take some pictures of your cute kiddos. I can’t wait to continue to watch them grow, and I can’t wait to see you guys again.
