Family Farms and A Lot of Love

August 11, 2021

I’m learning that I love taking pictures at farms. Not just because I was raised around farms and I’m comfortable there, but because they have so much beauty and story behind them. So anytime anyone says, “You can shoot at our family farm if you want,” I’m always quick to say, yes please! Kacee and her husband own Twin B Farms just outside of State College. It is a beautiful business filled with animals, love and a lot of hard work! I was actually greeted by a wild turkey when I got there! In that moment, I knew the hour together was going to be so great.

This family is not a new one for me.

I grew up playing softball with Jen, I have taken pictures of their beautiful family several times, and she introduced me to Kacee, her sister-in-law who owns the farm with her husband. This was an extended family session. Kacee’s parents (Jen’s mother and father-in-law) were such troopers as I stuck them with so many of the kiddos on their laps! Extended family sessions are always unpredictable, but they somehow always end up being so perfect in their own way. Kids, also, are unpredictable but that is so beautifully who they are. And you know what else are unpredictable? Cows. By the end of the session, we were invaded by the adorable cows that we shared the field with. Everything about it was enjoyable.

To their family, I’m sure they saw chaos as we organized the session. To me, I saw energy, love and a really close-knit family. The way they helped each other out with all the kids was refreshing. And when the kids were gone and we had just the parents, that was the magical part. The sun glowing behind each couple was romantic. And I love telling the couples to look at each other because it feels so awkward to do, but on my end of the camera it looks straight out of a magazine – each couple with such natural laughter and smiles. I love being a witness to such a special love.

Kacee and Jen, thank you so much for reaching out to me! Your entire family is so sweet, and I’m so thankful to have been able to come out and hang out with you for an hour. I hope to see you all again soon!
