It takes seconds. You hear people say, “Life changes in the blink of an eye.” But until that rings true for you personally, it can be kind of hard to believe just how fast things can change. It takes seconds. Last year, things were turned upside down for this entire family. Their hearts were broken. And their faith was tested. Sweet Regan was born into Heaven. It takes seconds for a precious life to be born and to move forward into Heaven. The earth seemed to have crumbled from underneath their feet. But God wasn’t done with them yet.

I knew their story wasn’t over.

When Jenna texted me and inquired about family pictures sometime before May, I got excited. Could it be? Yes, it was – she was pregnant! This time with a precious boy. Anxiety was on over drive. Nerves were at an all time high. But I had faith that the ending to this story would be far different than the last. And it was.

They showed up to the family/maternity session looking amazing as always. Riley was carrying an adorable bear. The bear’s name was Regan. And Regan bear goes everywhere with her. The cold rain had been coming down on and off all day. But for our session the rain held off. Regan was there in spirit with her family. I have a rainbow swaddle from a previous newborn session that I wanted to incorporate. Rainbows are a sign of hope, and this precious boy was the hope this family needed.

The next few weeks would be long and hard.

But worth it. Sweet AJ was born healthy and well. It takes seconds. For Jenna, Tony and Riley to fall in love with their newest angel. I could not wait to meet him, and when I did it was a humbling feeling. To be in the presence of an actual angel. Seriously, he was perfect. I have no doubt in my mind that his big sister in Heaven had everything to do with how perfect he is. And the beauty of it all is that God isn’t done with them. Their story is far from over, and His hand is all over their lives. I don’t understand why certain things happen. It’s heart breaking and confusing. But regardless of how dark the valley is, God sends blessings every day. And AJ is the biggest blessing of all.

Jenna and Tony, I am beyond thrilled for your sweet new addition. AJ is an absolute gift, and his life is going to be used in such beautiful ways. I adore your family, and I am so excited to see how it continues to grow. You are such a gift to me, and I’m so thankful for you! Congratulations, again!
